William Warden passed away
08-Aug-2000
It is painful to have to communicate that William B. Warden, Jr., a Life Fellow of the American Numismatic Society, Chair of the Society's Committee on Islamic Coins, Co-Chair of the Funding Campaign for the Islamic Curatorial Chair, and North American Secretary of the Oriental Numismatic Society, died on Saturday, August 5, at 6:00 in the evening. We have lost a good friend of the Society and a friend to all who knew him.
The cause was general heart failure. Bill had had a heart attack at the Long Beach Numismatic Show in June, without knowing it at that time. Three weeks later, he collapsed at home and was taken to the hospital. He was as a result scheduled for quintuple bypass surgery on August 28. The preliminary autopsy has shown, however, that his condition was even more grave than was previously thought. He had a good stout heart but it couldn't continue to carry the load. After several days in bed at home, he was taken on Saturday to the hospital where he died peacefully.
Funeral services will be at St. Martin's Church in New Hope, Pennsylvania, Friday, August 13, at 10:30 AM. All Bill's friends are welcome. There will be a reception afterward at the family home nearby.
Condolences may be sent to the home of Bill's mother:
Mrs. Franca Warden
