The Museum of Antiquities / Royal Coincabinet, Rapenburg 28, Leiden
On Saturday October 20th 2001, the annual ONS-meeting in the Netherlands will be held at the premises of the Museum of Antiquities / Royal
Coincabinet, Rapenburg 28 at Leiden.
Attention! As the Museum opens only at 12 o'clock you are
requested to use the service-entrance at the rear of the Museum (Papengracht
26)
Again a number of different subjects will be covered. As previous years, we propose to end the day again with a diner in an oriental atmosphere, again as last year we have opted for the speciality restaurant Asian Palace. We hope that again many people will attend the ONS-meeting and stimulate the mutual contact among the members.

lectures in the auditorium of the museum;
Some of the topics will be:
Presentation by Paul Murphy of his much-awaited book on the Silver Punch-marked Coinage of the Kosala State Region (c.600-470 BC) continued by an introduction to the next series of Punch-marked coinage of the Vatsa Janapada, as part of the Ahata project supported by the IIRNS in Nasik and the ONS.
Stan Goron will give a presentation of his magnum opus: The Coins of the Indian Sultanates, covering the Area of Present-day India, Pakistan and Bangladesh (see also the leaflet enclosed).
Some short papers, questions, news items and what else will be brought forward. Members are invited to come forward with such short items.

Continuation of the morning session with a Cultural and Numismatic impression of Uzbekistan by your secretary.

auction of some Oriental coins. (Again a number of coins have been donated
to the ONS. With the proceeds of this auction, the ONS will be supported; 5%
will be added to the hammer- price) For the catalogue of the coins, see
separate list.

Communications among members and informal get-together as
well as a possibility to visit the exhibition-room of the Royal
Coin-cabinet. (Note: the museum closes at 17.00 h.)

Travelguide and parkingfacilities at Leiden:
Leiden is easily reached by train from either Amsterdam, The Hague or
Rotterdam. The museum is located at approx. 10 minutes walking distance from
the railway-station.
By car the locality can be reached as follows:
via motorway A4 (Amsterdam - Rotterdam): turn off the motorway at
"Leiden/Zoeterwoude dorp, resp. Voorschoten", follow N206 direction Katwijk
(via Europaweg, Voorschoterweg, Churchilllaan), just before the bridge
across the river Old Rhine turn left, (Haagweg) and follow direction
"CENTRUM"
Parking
within the city limits of Leiden need, almost without exception, to be paid
for.
Visitors by car are advised, after having followed the before mentioned
route into the direction CENTRUM, to follow the signs P "Haagweg". From here
it takes approx. 5 - 10 minutes to walk to the museum. Small coaches may
bring you to the centre as well. A day-ticket will cost Dfl. 7,50. Parking
along the Rapenburg is also possible, a day-ticket will cost Dfl 16,=.
