The annual 2006 meeting in the Netherlands

The Museum of Antiquities / Royal Coin cabinet, Rapenburg 26, Leiden

On Saturday October 21st 2006, the annual ONS-meeting in the Netherlands will be held at the premises of the National Museum of Antiquities, Rapenburg 28 at Leiden. (!!! Museum entrance !!!) Again a number of different subjects will be covered. As previous years, we propose to end the day with a diner in an oriental atmosphere and again as previous year we have opted for the speciality restaurant Asian Palace. We hope that again many people will attend the ONS-meeting and stimulate the mutual contact among the members. The tentative program will be:
09.30 - 10.15 h	Welcome with coffee/tea in the museum cafe at the ground floor of museum of Antiquities. Note: Due the merger of the Royal Coin-cabinet into the Money- and Bank Museum, the activities at Leiden have ceased from the 1st of October 2003 and to be moved to Utrecht where the new museum will be housed at the premises of the present Royal Dutch Mint. We are very grateful to the director of the Money- and Bank Museum that for our annual meeting accommodation is provided at the Museum of Antiquities at Leiden till the proposed Museum in Utrecht is functioning, which is expected Spring 2007.
10.30 - 12.30 h	lectures will be held in the auditorium of the Museum of Antiquities. Some of the topics will be: The Greek wars of the 5th cent. BC and its numismatic consequences by Prof. Dr. Jan v.d. Dussen; The Coinage of the Lichhavi Kings of Nepal by Patrick Pasmans and The silver coinage of the Ilkhan Arghun - Do we have the complete picture? by Dr. Ruud Schüttenhelm. Additional short papers, questions, news items, etc. are welcome.
12.45 - 14.00 h	Joint lunch (aprox. €. 10.00/p.) at Camino Real, Doelensteeg 8.
14.15 - 14.45 h	Lectures in the auditorium at the 1st floor of the Museum of Antiquities; Continuation of the morning session.
14.45 - 15.00 h	viewing of the coins for auction.
15.00 - 16.30 h	Auction of some Oriental coins. (Again a number of coins have been donated to the ONS. With the proceeds of this auction, the ONS will be supported; 5% will be added to the hammer-price) The auction list also illustrated by coin images in the database ZENO.RU. Any postal-bids should be sent to the address mentioned below.
16.30 - 17.00 h	Communications among members and informal get-together. (Note: the museum closes at 17.00 h.)
17.15 - c. 21.00 h	A drink at North End English Pub (on the corner of Noordeinde / Rapenburg, followed by a diner (c. € 20,=/p. excl. drinks) in the speciality restaurant Asian Palace, Steenstraat 55.
