Geldmuseum, Leidseweg 90, Utrecht
On Saturday October 16th 2010, the annual ONS-meeting in the Netherlands will be held at the premises of the
Geldmuseum, Leidseweg 90, Utrecht.

Again a number of different subjects will be covered. As previous years, we propose to end the day with a diner in an oriental atmosphere and we have opted for the nearby Chinese restaurant "De Gouden Kom". We hope that again many people will attend the ONS-meeting and stimulate the mutual contact among the members.

Note: As we are charged for the extra security during the morning session, when the museum is still closed, an attendance fee of € 7.50 will be requested for.

The tentative program will be:

09.30 - 10.15 h Welcome with coffee/tea in the museum café at the ground floor.
10.30 - 12.30 h lectures will be held in the auditorium of the Museum.
The provisional program will consist of a presentation by François Gurnet: Ribbons on Sasanian coins: symbolism and consequences; Roland Dauwe: The Timurid Coinage of Qumm and Paul Murphy: Ancient Indian Metrology: Numismatists versus Archeologists? Or together!; Jonathan Morris, The Raja, the Praja, and the Cowherd’, a mildly humorous look at the Indian Princes during the nineteenth century, their origins and activities, and a brief mention of the different coinages which they produced.

Additional short papers, questions, news items, etc. are welcome.

12.45 - 14.00 h Joint indoor lunch (approx. € 12,50/p.p.) at "First-strike" room. Possibility to visit the library and exhibitions in the museum.

16.30 - 17.00 h Communications among members and informal get-together.

Travelguide and parking facilities at Utrecht:
Utrecht is most centrally located and from the Central Station it takes about 10 minutes walking to the 'Geldmuseum'. Take at the Central Station exit 'Jaarbeursplein'. Cross the square and the road (Croeselaan) and turn right. Pass by the office building of 'Reaal'. Cross the road at the traffic lights and continue in the same direction till the canal. Turn left and continue this road till you find the Museum at the left-hand side of the road, at the corner of Leidseweg/Muntkade.

Local public transport:
Tram (Utrecht CS direction Nieuwegein-IJsselstein) and bus (line 7 direction Kanaleneiland) will bring you near the Museum (both stops: Graadt van Roggenweg).

For more detailed information, about the public transport facilities, consult http://www.9292ov.nl

By car the locality can be reached as follows:
Coming from Amsterdam via motorway A2, take exit 17 (Jaarbeurs, Centrum). At the first roundabout with traffic-lights continue straight on (Laan der Verenigde Naties - Graadt van Roggenweg). After the first traffic-light keep left and after about 100 m at the second traffic-light make a U-turn (you will cross the tram-way) and follow now the Graadt van Roggenweg in opposite direction. After about 250 m keep right-hand lane and turn right just before the bridge. You are now on the Muntstraat/Muntkade. The museum is located, after about 200m, at the end of the street.

Coming from the direction 's-Gravenhage/Rotterdam or Arnhem via A12, take A2 direction Amsterdam and exit 8 (Jaarbeurs, Centrum) and following further the directions as described above. The same applies while coming from the direction 's-Hertogenbosch.

Paid parking has been introduced on the streets around the Museum. Free parking is still available across the bridge opposite the Museum, but because of residential parking one may have to search a little for a vacant place.
